本片改编自同名朗读剧，讲述了乡下小村庄的少年们一到18岁就会被告知一件事，那就是在这个村子出生的男孩一生中只能使用一次魔法，但是必须在20岁之前的2年期间使用。村子里的成年男子在过去对什么事使用了魔法，在他们使用魔法之前是不可能知道的。主人公等4名高中男生开始思考要对什么使用魔法…。Birdcatcher Esmar and his wife Johanna face eviction from their farm in Gásadalur unless they have a son. Desperation sets in when Johanna gives birth to their third daughter. Pushed to the brink, Johanna is impregnated by another man, a French Captain, and gives birth to a son, known as ‘the birdcatcher’s son’. Everything seems perfect until the French Captain returns.。
